Who we are.

UPLOAD Student offers freedom in education. We are a learning community of multi-grade level students (think “one-room schoolhouse”) from Kindergarten to 12th grade. Our learning coaches activate learning using inquiry-based lessons, which empower students to think critically and use multiple resources to solve real-world problems that benefit our community. We are located in Fruitland, Idaho, near the Oregon border.

At UPLOAD Student,

you will see a dynamic exchange of ideas between students, personalized learning supported by a state-certified master teacher and learning coaches, inquiry-based and project-based learning, growth mindsets at work, service learning that benefits our community, and improved focus and coordination through physical and auditory exercises.

Our Studio

Our design looks like a one-room schoolhouse and functions as a 21st Century creative work space called a “studio.” Students of mixed ages learn the basics of language arts and math while working independently or with a small group. Students engage in project-based learning with peers to explore the arts, sciences, history and humanities. Exploratory units teach them technology, entrepreneurship, and important life and social skills, such as research, writing, financial literacy, entrepreneurship, art, health, nutrition, home economics, and so much more!

Professional Portfolios

Students write S.M.A.R.T. goals and follow a personalized learning plan, or PLP, while building portfolios to demonstrate mastery of essential skills. Freedom in decision-making inspires growth & transformation. Students truly learn to enjoy learning!

Real-life Economics

The studio behavior management and incentive program is based on a real-world economic system that encourages positive social skills. Kids hold each other accountable to boundaries and hard work by earning studio upgrades and other team rewards.

We see children rise up and embrace the mindset of heroes — people who take responsibility for their choices, get back up after falling down, and refuse to quit even when it’s hard. We see children learning how to learn and loving it.
— Laura Sandefer, Co-founder of Acton Academy

The ultimate goals for our students are to learn how to learn, feel invested in their learning, develop an ethic of excellence, find their identity as God’s unique creation, and change the world.
